Last nite I found myself wide awake just browsing the internet, I just so happened to come across a video of a young woman like myself talking about her kidney’s failing. The video actually made me sad. Quick background story.. She’s a young woman with Lupus and her kidneys were not in the best of health however she was able to maintain for a long time. In her attempts to remain healthy she would exercise about every day of the week with the aid of protein shakes. After having blood work done her doctor informed her that one of her kidney’s was failing and what she believes contributed to it was her excessive intake of protein shakes. This prompted me to do a little research for myself on the harms of protein shakes, what I found out was that although there is no recorded evidence that too much protein could cause renal failure in a healthy person, individuals with pre-existing renal conditions should montior their protein intake. My advice for everyone would be to be aware of your diet, monitor your food intake regarding sugar, protein and sodium. Practice a healthy lifestyle early your body will thank you later.
