Hair Hair Nothing but Hair!!! Let’s start at the Beginning—->
Why did I go natural? I have always been curious about my hair, I’ve seen it in it’s relaxed state and I have seen it in what some would refer to as transitional state BUT I’ve never seen it in it’s own NATURAL state. It wasn’t until after I had my daughter, that I really considered it. While researching hair, looking for products that would allow her hair to grow, that were healthy for her and allow her to not only retain length but products that would also keep her hair moisturized I questioned if I could do it for her then I was perfectly capable of doing the same for myself. You see, hair has always been an interest of mine but i always fell short because I was ill informed regarding proper techniques for hair && discouraged in allowing my hair to go too long without a touch up. But for my child, I took the time to research what products were harmful to both the skin and hair. What products are known to stunt hair growth and why, what products have aided in hair growth. It’s something new, something I always wanted to do so I did it && I’m happy with my choice.I honestly believe that all hair is Beautiful and with proper care, techniques, and products ALL hair is capable of growth.
Over the last two years I have learned so much about hair I swear i could probably teach classes on it && I have no doubt in my mind I could grow anyone’s hair out (that’s just my confidence in my knowledge). Because everyone’s hair is different and because everyone believes different thing regarding hair I will simply tell you about my hair.
I do not use products containing sulfates or silicones.
I do not comb my hair unless it is completely wet, so in other words I do not comb my hair in it’s natural state when it is dry.
I do not brush my hair unless I’m brushing it in a ponytail or up-do and it is ONLY after it has been detangled first && while wet.
I do not use heat on my hair unless I have a sew in with some hair out. So NO I do not Blowdry, NO I do not Flat Iron, No I do not Hot Comb, No I do not Curl my hair with a Curling Iron.
Instead I …
I do wash my hair with a All Natural Shampoo bar or a Natural Shampoo once a month to Clarify my hair && remove any products from it.
I do Co-wash about once a week if I am wearing a Wash & Go and once every two weeks if I am wearing protective styles.
I do like to Deep Condition my hair when I wash it or every other wash depending on what my hair needs at the time. I do use a Hair Therapy Wrap to Deep Condition INSTEAD of sitting under a dryer it works for Me.
I do ONLY comb my hair when I detangle in the shower, I coat it with a Moisturizing Conditioner so that it will have slip && I start from the bottom. Unlike many others I detangle with a Denman Brush very rarely with a comb. However if you do detangle with a comb ONLY a wide tooth comb is recommended. (Finger combing also works && doesn’t pull too much on your hair therefore reducing the amount of hair shed)
I do believe in LOW MANIPULATION.. so NO I do not change my hair style EVERY other day.. I don’t allow people to just play in my hair && I do not weigh my hair down with TONS of product on it. I like to touch my hair once && see how long that will last meaning: If I Wash & Go I will detangle ONCE in the shower.. && that’s it..my hair will NOT see a comb until I Wash my hair again. The point of whatever the style is, is to do it && leave it ALONE, to see how long I can go without disturbing my hair.
I do sleep with a Satin Bonnet or on a Satin Pillowcase && I do keep my ENDS covered while sleeping.
These are merely a few and I do mean bare minimum of my hair routine. I’ll update later on specific techniques for various styles, my hair routine && the products I use as well as pictures of myself && my hair && OTHER people’s HAIR. Feel Free to ask me any questions concerning Natural Hair && Transitioning, if I can be of some assistance I will. One thing that I do not like is for someone who knows nothing about it to ask questions without openmindedness. I refuse to talk just to talk, as in I refuse to try to educate you or explain why I do something when your mind is already set on the opposite. I’m not here to argue. I enjoy posting pics of hair because Hair is a Hobby to me ;) Not doing it..but learning as much about it as possible… so Until Next time.. Hair Hair Nothing but Hair!!!
